This Disneyland Corn Dog Recipe is spot on! So excited for you to try it. I found an original recipe on Grub Americana, claiming it’s straight from Disneyland. While I don’t know for sure, I can attest that it’s worth making…and I’m a very picky critic. I’ve had my fair share of Disneyland Corn Dogs and these are very close to the real thing. Let’s be honest, you can’t beat eating a Disneyland Corn Dog on Main Street, U.S.A., but this is the next best thing to enjoy at home!

What You’ll Need

Simple, easy to find ingredients are the hallmarks of this classic American corn dog recipe.

  • hot dogs or hot links and/or cheese sticks– Use your favorite hot dog brand or cheese stick brand.
  • corn meal– Find the corn meal near the baking section of the grocery store. It gives the corn dogs their corn crunchy coating.
  • all-purpose flour– Flour is used to make the batter for the corn dogs.
  • kosher salt– Kosher salt is a coarse salt commonly used in cooking and baking.
  • baking powder– Baking powder is used in the batter for the corn dogs.
  • granulated sugar– This fine white sugar is used to add a touch of sweetness to the batter.
  • milk- 2% is preferred.
  • beaten egg- For consistency, I use large eggs in my cooking and baking.
  • melted shortening– Find shortening in the baking section of the grocery store.

How To Make Disneyland Corn Dogs

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan filled 3/4 full over medium-high heat until oil reaches 350-375 degrees F.
  2. Place the corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a large bowl, stir to combine. Stir in egg, milk and melted shortening. Stirring to combine. Pour batter into a tall slender glass, makes for easier dipping of hot dogs.
  3. Place hot dogs through skewers and dip generously into batter, swirling then carefully place into hot oil spinning slowly the entire time in the oil. This helps create an even golden brown color and even cooking. When a deep golden brown color, transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain some of the oil. Each corn dog took about 2-3 minutes in the frying oil. Serve hot with your favorite condiments.

The batter is very easy to prepare. Mix your dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl first then stir in the wet ingredients. Once combined, transfer the corn dog batter into a tall slender glass which will make for easy dipping of the hot dogs.

Find wooden skewers for your dogs and carefully skewer each one. Going slow helps. When I make these again, instead of using the cheese sticks in this photo, I’ll buy my own block of cheddar cheese and cut bigger pieces. These were too small in my opinion.

After Corn Dogs have been fried for 2-3 minutes and deep golden brown, transfer to a paper towel lined plate. We took a vote in our house and we all agreed that the hot links were hands down the best. Definitely give those a try.

How To Serve Disneyland Corn Dogs

Serve corn dogs hot with your favorite condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and Dijon. The Little Red Truck serves their corn dogs with a choice of chips or sliced apples, which another fun way to serve them.

How To Store Leftovers
