How much is the AVBOB funeral plan? ›

It is a single-life policy with a premium that can either be payable for life or with a once-off, single premium payment. Policyholders between the ages 65 to 74 pay a monthly premium of R150, those between 75- and 79-years old pay R180, and pensioners between 80- to 84-years of age pay R220 per month.

Waiting Period

This means that if any of the insured persons under this policy die as a result of natural causes, the benefit will not be paid. A claim will be considered only after the six-month waiting period from the policy issue date has been completed and six premiums were received from the policy start date.

The time it takes to pay out a policy once a claim is lodged can be anything from four to 48 hours, depending on the company that issued the policy.

Accident Benefit: If the main policyholder passes away due to an accident, double the insured amount will be paid out.

COVER AMOUNTS

All senior citizens older than 64 years can join the Group Funeral Insurance Scheme for Pensioners. If you are 84 years or younger, you can choose to pay either a monthly premium or make a once-off payment. If you are older than 84 years, you have to make a once-off payment.
