If you haven’t jumped back on the Abercrombie & Fitch train, get on! They made their official comeback a few years ago and have been knocking it out of the park ever since.
I’ve been a huge fan of Abercrombie dresses, jackets and tees. I basically live in my Abercrombie graphic tees. But one category I had not tried until middle school it seems, are Abercrombie & Fitch jeans.
I finally tried on lots of styles and fits and have found a few tricks to getting the perfect fit. Their jeans are quite comfortable, stylish and are versatile. There’s really something for everyone.
For sizing reference, I am 5’5″ and would say I have a long torso and shorter legs. I often have to hem my jeans or buy the short inseam.
For sizing at other brands, I usually find myself in a size 4 at LOFT, 27 in Madewell and 28 in J.Crew. I’m also a 28 in Pistola jeans, sometimes a 29 if they are 100% cotton.
I would say Abercrombie feels similar to Pistola jeans when it comes to fit. I find at Abercrombie I’m usually a 27 or 28. If I do the 28, I definitely need the Curve Love fit. Depending on what shoes I want to wear with jeans, I will do a regular or a long.
Curve Love Versus Regular Fit
Let’s start out with if you should choose the Curve Love or the regular fit. The Curve Love fit is just their curvy version.
Curvy fit jeans are designed for people who have an hourglass figure with a smaller waist than their hips. If you find your denim gaping in the back a ton, you may benefit from a curvy-fit pair of jeans. The Abercrombie Curve Love has an extra 2 inches through the hip and thigh to help eliminate the waist gap.
I have found that I am in-between when it comes to this fit. And I notice at some brands like Madewell jeans, that their curvy fit just doesn’t work for me, yet I find that I have to take my jeans in often.
I seem to be on the cusp of curvy and regular. At Abercrombie, I find that the Curve Love usually fits me best versus the regular fit. And this is especially true for the higher rise as it hits the smallest part of my waist.
Many styles at A&F come in the Curve Love fit. You can even filter by it to just see the styles that come in this option.
Inseams & Lengths
There are also lots of length options to choose from at Abercrombie. They include extra short, short, regular and long. At 5’5″ with short legs, I actually like the regular fit.
However, I have found that the long length tends to be a teeny bit of a looser fit in the waist. This is fairly common with petites, so it’s not surprising it’s also the case with longs.
If you have short legs or are petite, you can try extra short or short. There is only a 2 inch inseam difference between each inseam length. So if you want to wear something with heels, you may want to go up to your next inseam length.

Curve Love High Rise 90s Relaxed Jean
MY SIZE: Size 28 Curve Love Regular Length
The High Rise 90’s relaxed jeans truly feel like a mom jean. These are a looser fit through the entire leg and feel like I’m 100% back in middle school.
They are insanely comfortable and have just 1% elastane in them. While wearing these with Dad sneakers or Converse feels very 1995 to me, I don’t hate it. But I actually really love these with a heel. They’re the perfect loose fitting jean that isn’t a super wide leg.
For sizing, I went with a size 28 in the Curve Love and the regular length. I can wear these with a low heel, but if I wanted to do a super high heel, I would need the long inseam. If I wanted to only wear them with sneakers, I probably would be good in the short inseam.
As you can see in the main photo of today’s post, they puddle a bit in the regular length with a sneaker but it’s really just a preference. The high waist on these are 10.5 inches which is a tad less than the ultra high rise of 11.5 inches.
The high rise 90’s relaxed jean also comes in loads of washes and different distressing. I’m wearing the medium wash in the above photos. You can also get this relaxed looser fit in their vegan leather. You all know how I feel about faux leather pants!
Curve Love Ultra High Rise 90s Straight Jean

For the perfect straight leg jean to swap out your skinnies with, this is it. The Ultra High Rise 90’s Straight jean comes in tons of colors, dark washes and light washes.
I went with the size 28 Curve Love in the regular fit and still decided to cut the hem so it hit right above my ankle. I find that these have a much looser leg opening from the knee down versus the Madewell Perfect Vintage Straight leg jean here.
This is definitely a more true straight leg and I think it’s just preference. If you want a slimmer fit, there is a slim fit straight that will give you a more narrow fit from the knee down. I would say that the slim straight is going to be most similar to the Madewell Perfect Vintage straight leg jeans.
I like these 90’s ultra high rise straight jeans with a heel the most. And I find these feel a bit too wide with a flat boot for me. But it’s not terrible and I’ve still worn them that way.
I like the 11.5 inch high rise of these and the darker wash of the denim. But they also come in a beautiful brown, light blue washes, and even black. There are also several different styles like distressing, or the criss cross waist.
Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jean
The ultra high rise ankle straight jeans are a super popular option to try. These have an 11.5 inch rise and hit at the ankle. They still come in various inseam options. The ultra high rise ankle straight jeans come in regular and the Curve Love option. I’d say these straight leg jeans are a great option if you’re looking to update your skinnies.
High Rise Super Skinny Ankle Jean
Yes, skinny jeans are still in! These are a high rise with a slight crop in the inseam to show off the ankle. I love that instead of a full length jean when it comes to skinnies. Abercrombie’s skinny jeans come in several washes, inseam options and also the Curve Love fit. But for 2023, we are opting for dark washes and no ripping to feel more updated. Flared And Wide Leg Jeans
There are a few options for flared jeans, and wide leg jeans. With Curve Love and classic fits, you can find exactly what you need. The mid rise wide leg jean feels like a wide trouser but is in a mid-rise, personally more into a high rise but still a good option. There is a flared leg which comes in lots of washes, and inseams and also classic or Cuve Love fits. And lastly, these wide leg jeans are perfection.
